Haiti _before_ the earthquake
Facts from World Book (at CIA.Gov) as of 2009.

80% of Haitians live below the poverty line, 54% in abject poverty.

Only 3.5% of the population can expect to live past age 65; median age being around 20 years old.

There is a high risk for infectious disease, including Hepatitis, typhoid fever, dengue fever, and malaria.

I am merely pointing out that when interviewed by American reporters and the people state that their chance for survival is low - it was low to begin with.

The Haitian government already sustains the county on foreign aid and tariff-reduced trade, dealing with corruption and political instability. Given the nature of the situation in Haiti prior to the Earthquake, how do international relief agencies plan to ensure aid gets to the most needing candidates? By the same systems which have failed in the past?
Is the aid going to be for all Haitians who are suffering from poverty and disease or just the people displaced or suffering as a result of the Earthquake? Assuming, of course, that the aid even makes it to the needy.
When is a  line going to be drawn as to amount of support? It would take a lot more money than proposed by the developed nations to fix  Haiti, to bring Haiti up from its current sad state.

Will the aid truly make an impact?  I really hope so.

If only Haiti had received this much sympathy throughout its troubled past...

Benjamin's 9 month check-up
31.5 inches tall (off the chart)
20.5 lbs (50 percentile)
+1st dose of flu vaccine.

Doctor said he looks older than he is because he's so very tall. I said, yep.

Other than being a cranky-pants, baby was well-behaved.

Benjamin is 8 months old... (and trying to crawl)!
Silly boy... every time he gets up on all fours and I try to photograph him, he lays back down and grins...
Here's an attempt though.

Also, in the last picture you will notice: 2 teeth. The second one came in last weekend while he was grandma and grandpa's house.  I told them that I may have to stop sending him over there if he comes back with a new tooth every time.
